Visual Designer

It's all about design.

Web. Graphic. Photography. UX. Art.
Vegas Brawlers

Used WordPress to design paintball teams and manage social media with photography that I created and edited. I often travel with the team and help advertise their team name.

Blog

Utilized WordPress to design a blog for a writer who travels around the west coast. I assisted with the pictures editing. I often travel with the blogger and post the bloggers experiences and emotions.

Local Business App

Updates social media page to add events. I currently do research about how users find the app helpful. I take pictures in order to build the business brand.

Graphic Design

Adobe Creative Cloud is very useful when creating ads and graphics because I am able to customize my projects based on business needs. Fonts and objects are created in Illustrator and Photoshop. If there's a need for animation or video footage, I use both Premier Pro and After Effects.

UX Design: Super Cinema

Created a mobile application where users can find popular movies and chose where they want to watch it. Movie tickets can either be booked or watched at home.  Unlike most apps, Super Cinema will allow a user to find parking spots and look up snacks before they arrive to the movie theater including drive-ins. If the user watches a movie at home they can chose food as well. Snacks will be delivered from either DoorDash and UberEats.

Define

Problem

  • Users that have free time that may want to watch movies, book seats, and purchase food in one setting.
  • Users want to be able to complete tasks in one setting.
  • Users want to be able to chose whether they want to watch the movie at home or in a theater.

Goal

  • Design a streamline purchase flow.
  • Expand user base.

Action

  • Simplify checkout, payment, and confirmation page.
  • Allow customer to gain points to earn promotions.
  • Allow customer to chose movies either in theater or on the app.

Ideation

Competitive Audit

AMC
  • Does not accept Venmo payment support
  • There isn't a timer before completing an order
  • App is personalized for AMC theaters but there isn't always an AMC theater nearby.
Fandango
  • Does not allow users to buy snacks
  • Can't earn points on discount days
  • Allows users to search for movies at any nearby theater
  • Third party apps don't have personalized features for every theater such as buying snacks. There are different types of food available at different theater brands.
Gaps
  • Easy Checkout
  • Different languages for non-native English speakers/readers.
  • Lots of discounts for loyalty members

Understanding the users goals

User Journey Map

A journey map displays the goal for a user. In this case, Kris decides to search for movie, but he's disappointed because of how long it takes to find a good movie. A solution to solve this problem would be to order the movies from high to low and separate them by genre.

User Tasks

The above map shows the tasks that a user will make when searching for a movie, deciding whether or not to watch it, chose the theater and time, select their seats, snacks, then completes their order. If the order is not followed in these steps, then a user will not be able to confirm their task.

Personas
Sarah
  • Age: 27
  • Occupation: Data Analyst
  • Goals: Kris wants to find popular movies that are playing in the theaters as well as finding snacks other than popcorn.
  • Frustrations: No theaters are linked to restaurants to deliver food.
Kris
  • Age: 33
  • Occupation: Professional Photographer
  • Goals: Scott is not from the US and wants to watch movies that are in his area.
  • Frustrations: Movie theater apps are not available in all countries and well as movies.

UX Research Study

Unmoderated Usability Study

The goal is to see if scheduling movie times, seats, parking spots, and preordering food save time for customers.

Participants
  • Movie-goers
  • Ages 18 and up
  • Male and female
Research Questions
  • How long does it take for 4-5 people to complete a movie order?
  • What can we learn from these steps that users take?
  • Is it easy to order food before they confirm their purchase?
Key Performance Indicators
  • Time on task: How long does it take for 4-5 people to book a movie, seats, and snacks?
  • Navigation vs Search: How often do users prefer navigation through titles versus searching titles.
Methodology

Data will be be collected through Google forms. In the form the user will be asked questions, type their comments, rate the app, and submit them.

Script
  • Login/Register: Was it easy for the user to log in or make an account?
  • Optional Movie Preferences: Was it easy for a user to decide the type of movies that they want to see?
  • Search for a movie or scroll for popular movies or reccomendations: Was it easy for the user to choose seats?
  • Find seats: Was it easy for the user to choose seats?
  • Purchase snacks/food: Was it easy for the user to find snacks?
Feedback
  • Prefer a back button that says "back" instead of "actually wait". Users of ages 40 and up may not know what "actually wait" means.
  • Include back button and slide finger back to pages.
  • Login page should have a enter button.
  • Login page should allow users to make an account with their Google login
  • Food list should include all types of cuisine such as things that you find on GrubHub and Doordash.

Take Notes While Observing Participants

The goal is to see how participants react to the app while completing certain task

Tasks
  1. Create an account or log into existing account
  2. Search bar for movies
  3. Choose Seats
  4. Choose food options
  5. Editing order before confirmation page.
